Bose Acoustimass 5 Speakers - A User's Perspective

!±8± Bose Acoustimass 5 Speakers - A User's Perspective

There are two major benefits of owning a combination home theater speaker and stereo speaker system like the Bose Acoustimass 5. First, you experience the fun, action and excitement of movie theater sound in your home whenever you want. There are no lines to wait in, no expensive tickets to buy and no over-priced snacks. Second, you can also boom out your favorite music on iTunes or CD's.

There are dozens of audio speaker systems on the market ranging in cost from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. When I did research on the Bose Acoustimass 5 speakers, I found there were many positive reviews and some negative ones as well. Like most people, I am always concerned about negative comments so I dug deeper to find out what was driving people to opine this way.

What I discovered was there are some loud music loving people who say the bass in the Bose Acoustimass 5 is not powerful enough for use as a main stereo speaker system. From reading these comments, I have a hunch that many of these folks like their music dangerously loud. The fact is, your bass should not rumble through your body like a tornado! It should not vibrate your internal organs or damage your eardrums. Sorry for the cliche, but you want quality, not quantity.

Of course, your stereo bass speaker should be powerful. You should feel it. However, it should not overpower to the point of giving you physical discomfort like headaches, organ vibration or eardrum ringing.

The Acoustimass 5 speaker system uses technology that produces deep low sounds with no audible distortion. It produces pure concert stereo surround sound. You feel like part of the action but without the headache. Even with the volume on high, the bass speaker does not rattle or pop and there is zero audible distortion. That is a sign of quality.

I picked up my Bose speakers two months ago and I use them for TV, movies and playing my digital music. The looks are stylish. However, I was more impressed with the sound emanating from such a relatively small speaker system. Regarding the power of the bass, my neighbors in the apartments below tell me they can hear and feel it just fine. It is a good thing we are friends or else I would be getting phone calls from the landlord.

Until recently, I was behind the curve on my digital sound technology. I was worried about understanding making all the connections. I took extra time to understand how to make the connections to my receiver and television, DVD player etc. Setup time was estimated to be 20 minutes, but it took me 35 minutes to get it out of the box, read the directions and connected properly. It was worth it because I can use it to play music and watch TV and movies, home theater style. Rather than spend lots money on multiple systems, I have one that does the job for multiple applications.

What else can I opine in this review of the Bose Acoustimass 5?

Some Positives:
Excellent bass delivery without headaches, eardrum pain or internal organ vibration. Your room is fully immersed in pure stereo sound, as if you were experiencing it live. Kill two birds with one stone. Use it for TV and for playing your favorite music. Price / Performance: dollar for dollar, these speakers outperform most other competitive products.

Some Negatives:
You have to test different positions for the bass speaker to get the right sound for your room. If you want heavier bass output, you may want to add a powered sub woofer. I think it is overkill, but heavy music types will disagree with me on this.

In my opinion, getting hi-fidelity sound is possible with this speaker system. Personally, I have never been disappointed in a Bose product. That's why I suggest you take a serious look at this one.
